The 2009 Conference of the Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE) will take place in Malaga, Spain, from August 29th to September 2nd. This conference will be held together to the XIX meeting of the Spanish Association for Medical Education (SEDEM).
I received a few days ago the Provisional Program of the AMEE 2009 conference. Besides the sessions in English, the conference will include also some sessions in Spanish and one workshop organized by students and for students. Following, a general description of this scientific meeting.
The program includes the following courses:
– Essential Skills in Medical Education
– Essential Skill in Medical Education Assessment
– Research Essential Skills in Medical Education
– Essential Skills in Technology Enhanced Medical Education
The National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) and the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER) will offer the course “Fundamentals of Assessment in Medical Education”
Preconference workshops, with emphasis in clinical simulation will be held in August 29 and 30. On Sunday 30 of August, wil be held workshops in Spanish and also preconference workshops organized by students for students and junior doctors.
The Conference will begin with an open plenary on Monday August 31 with the lectures “Evidence based view on global health”, by Dr. Hans Rosting, professor of Karolinska Institute, Sweden, and “Rethinking Medical Education”, by Dr. Hillard Jason, from the University of Colorado. These lectures will be followed by symposia, large group sessions, workshops and master class sessions, presentation of posters and exhibits, etc.
The closing plenary will be held on September 2nd with the lecture “Learning, assessment, technology: in that order”, by Dr. Dylan Wiliam, Deputy Director of the Institute of Education, London.
The submission deadline for the abstracts for short communications, posters, fringe presentations, conference workshops and Secrets of Success is 13 March.
